History
HealthStar Physicians, founded in 1995, is a successful multi-specialty group, located in Morristown, Tennessee. HealthStar Physicians had approximately 188,500 patient encounters in 2006, and projects patient encounters in excess of 200,000 in 2007. HealthStar Physicians, P.C. is comprised of 34 physicians and 13 mid-level providers representing 18 specialties. There are nine practice locations in three contiguous counties. The majority of the group practices in a class A, 75,000 square foot Medical Office Building, which encompasses the following ancillary services:
- Urgent Care Clinic The Urgent Care Clinic provides the community with after hours care. It is staffed 7 days per week with HealthStar physicians and/or mid-level providers.

HealthStar Laboratory features the UniCel DXC 600 for routine chemistry testing. The Unicel DXC 600 can deliver up to 990 tests per hour and 90 Basic Metabolic Panels in one hour. The laboratory utilizes the UniCel DXI 800 for routine immunoassays, which processes up to 400 tests per hour. This system provides proven chemiluminescent detection to provide excellent precision and sensitivity. The coagulation analyzer, Beckman ACL 1000, provides superior technology for the precision and reliability in performing routine Protime and APTT testing. The laboratory uses the Coulter LH 500 to ensure the highest sensitivity, specificity, and efficiency in performing hematology testing. The laboratory performs 1.5 million tests a year and is certified by COLA and CLIA. Dyncare is currently for any outsourcing of reference laboratory testing.
The bone density, Hologic, diagnostic imaging services are managed by a radiology information system (RIS) and are digitally processed and archived with a PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). The Hologic system performs instant vertebral assessments to evaluate for early spinal fractures. HealthStar Physicians are the only group in Tennessee with extensive modalities operating on an integrated internet based Avreo RIS/PACS system.
HealthStar Physicians uses the Centricity Physician Office Practice Management (PM) system from GE, the first Windowsฎ-based practice management system. Centricity Physician Office - PM provides us with a comprehensive solution to our healthcare computing needs - from billing and scheduling to patient information, inventory control, scanning, EDI (electronic submission, remittance, statements and eligibility) managed care, reports, accounts receivable and collections.
