Originally from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Dr. Manley attended the University of Tennessee for undergraduate studies. He taught high school English for two years before returning to graduate school, to study Psychology at the University of Memphis. He obtained a PhD in Counseling Psychology, as well as a master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Montevallo in Alabama. Dr. Manley completed his psychology internship and residency at the Vanderbilt University Psychological Center and the VA Medical Center in Nashville.
Dr. Manley brings diverse and extensive experience with him to Harris Clinic. He has worked in college and university counseling centers, community mental health, medical centers, private practice and served as a civilian psychologist for the United States Air Force in areas such as Atlanta, Nashville and Biloxi, MS. Dr. Manley is a member of the American Psychological Association. “I’m happy to be working with the skilled, compassionate staff at Harris Clinic,” Dr. Manley says, “and I’m dedicated to the Harris Clinic mission of providing sensitive, compassionate and evidence-based care for all my patients.” Dr. Manley is trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, all psychological techniques that work well with pain management, depression and stress management.
At Harris Clinic, each patient is treated holistically. Dr. Harris and his staff are known for working to understand each patient’s lifestyle, challenges and precise diagnosis, so they can tailor the best treatment to reduce pain, using little or no drugs. Dr. Harris says, “Pain goes hand in hand with challenges like depression, anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and others.
