Dr. Hancock is a board-certified family physician with 26+ years of clinical experience. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Rice University in 1992. Remaining in Houston (having grown up just north of there), he then enrolled in Baylor College of Medicine on a U.S. Air Force scholarship, earning his M.D. in 1996. Saying goodbye to the Texas Gulf Coast, he began active duty service near Washington, D.C., continuing with family medicine specialty training at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews AFB (1996–1999). Further postings as a USAF staff physician followed in Montana at Malmstrom AFB (1999–2001), and then at RAF Alconbury/Molesworth/Upwood in England (2001–2004), caring for U.S. military personnel, veterans, and their families.
After completing his U.S. Air Force service, he returned stateside with his wife Amy and their three children to settle in Morristown, not far from where Amy grew up in Oak Ridge. After working at another local clinic during his first year in Tennessee, Dr. Hancock joined HealthStar Physicians, P.C. in October 2005, where he continues to practice today.
Dr. Hancock enjoys seeing a wide range of patients, from newborns to those who are “up there” in years—and everything in between. He also gives some of his time each month to Helping Hands, a free clinic for individuals without insurance, and stands ready to do his best in listening to his patients’ stories, helping them develop solutions to their medical concerns, advocating for preventive health needs, and ensuring referrals to the appropriate specialists when necessary.
