Michael Hood, MD
Dr. Michael Hood graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis. Dr. Hood completed his internship and residency in Family Practice at East Tennessee State University – James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Bristol. He is Board Certified in Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Hood practiced emergency medicine for 30 years, and he was an assistant clinical professor at two medical schools for 15 years. He is one of the founding physicians of Family Practice Center where he has practiced since 1982. Dr. Hood is skilled in making difficult diagnosis, outpatient dermatological surgery, lesion removal, emergency medicine and rheumatology.
In his spare time, Dr. Hood volunteers with the Boy Scouts and enjoys wine making. He is an examiner for the F.A.A. for pilot physicals, and he is currently president of the Newport Theatre Guild and enjoys wine making as owner of the Goodwater Vineyard.
