Dr. Zachary Sumpter was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky, where he developed a deep appreciation for close-knit communities and a strong commitment to serving others. Before pursuing a career in medicine, he worked as a software engineer, an experience that strengthened his analytical thinking and attention to detail.
He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016 and completed his residency at ETSU Family Medicine Residents of Bristol. Since 2019, Dr. Sumpter has proudly practiced in the Tri-Cities region, providing comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages.
Dr. Sumpter takes a whole-person approach to medicine, focusing on building long-term, trust-based relationships with his patients. He has experience managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. He believes the best outcomes are achieved through evidence-based care plans tailored to each patient’s individual goals and lifestyle.
Outside of the office, Dr. Sumpter enjoys spending time with his family, staying active outdoors, and serving his local church community.
